Let \(M\) be an oriented even-dimensional manifold endowed with a \(\mathrm{spin}^c\) bundle \(\mathcal{S}\) and a compact connected Lie group \(K\) acting on the pair \((M, \mathcal{S})\). It results the equivariant index \(Q_K(M, \mathcal{S})\) of the associated Dirac operator. Consider now a closed connected subgroup \(H\subset K\) and the canonical projection \(p\) corresponding to Lie algebras. The choice of an invariant Hermitian connection on \(\det(\mathcal{S})\) determines an equivariant moment map \(\phi _{\mathcal{S}}\). The main result of this paper is Theorem 1.1. Suppose that \(p\circ \phi _{\mathcal{S}}\) is proper. Then the following holds: The \(K\)-module \(Q_K^{-\infty }(M, \mathcal{S})\) is \(H\)-admissible and we have \(Q_K^{-\infty }(M, \mathcal{S})|_H=Q_H^{-\infty }(M, \mathcal{S})\). The main tools are compactifications of reductive groups and the multiplicative properties of the functor \(Q_K^{-\infty }\).
