This is a well-illustrated, easy-to-comprehend, and well-structured textbook in kinematics written for advanced undergraduate and first-year graduate students of engineering that may be used by physical and mathematical students as well. The presented material based on elementary vector calculus is explained in complete details easily and clearly. The strong selection of main and subsidiary topics from the boundless ocean of kinematics is made with complete mastery. The best feature of the textbook is the big set of nice illustrating examples and exercises. Using both traditional, for classical mechanics, mechanisms and those used in contemporary engineering, the author teaches students to see abstract schemes in mechanical, electrical and other constructions and to apply mathematical methods to design them as well as to know the fundamental foundation of mechanics. The idea of contents is given by the following list of chapters of the textbook: I. Kinematics of a particle. 2. Kinematics of rigid body motion. 3. Finite rigid body displacements. 4. Motion referred to a moving reference frame and relative motion. Appendix A: The elements of vector calculus. Appendix B: The elements of matrix algebra.
