\textit{J.~C.~McConnell} [Lect. Notes Math. 1448, 139-147 (1990; Zbl 0717.17016)] defines a semi-commutative algebra to be a filtered ring \(R\) whose associated graded ring \(\text{gr}(R)\) is the coordinate ring of quantum space \({\mathcal O}_q(K^n)\). Both McConnell and \textit{I.~Musson} [in Ring Theory 1992, World Scientific 248-258 (1993; Zbl 0853.16035)] have shown that many important quantum algebras are semi-commutative. In this paper, the authors extend work of \textit{S.~Montgomery} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 83, 263-268 (1981; Zbl 0474.16003)] and examine the X-inner automorphisms of such algebras. They show, for example, that the nonidentity X-inner automorphisms tend to have infinite order. In particular, if \(G\) is a finite group acting on \(R\), then the action of \(G\) will be X-outer, and this immediately yields useful information on the various crossed products \(R*G\).
