This well written and instructive report without proofs surveys the connections between knot theory and continuous dynamical systems in three (or four) dimensions. The periodic orbits of the latter form a possibly infinite link in space. We are guided through numerous examples to the highlights of present knowledge, e.g. that there is a dynamical system in 3-space that carries all link types as periodic orbits. A dozen commented questions at the end are meant to stimulate investigations in this relatively new field where many problems remain to be solved.
