The main purpose of this article is to construct examples of complete Kähler manifolds with positive Ricci curvature. It seems that there are not many known examples of complete manifolds with positive Ricci curvature, even for the Riemannian case. A class of examples is obtained by taking quotients of isometric actions on classical spaces. \textit{J. C. Nash} [J. Differ. Geom. 14, 241-254 (1979; Zbl 0464.53035)] had also constructed examples in forms of fiber bundles. Recently, \textit{D. Gromoll} and \textit{W. T. Meyer} [ibid. 21, 195-211 (1985; Zbl 0583.53036)] constructed examples carrying completely positively Ricci curved Riemannian metrics which cannot admit any complete metric with nonnegative sectional curvature. We would also like to mention the interesting results of \textit{J.-P. Sha} and \textit{D.-G. Yang} [ibid. 29, No. 1, 95-103 (1989; Zbl 0633.53064)]. More precisely, we obtain the following result. Theorem 0.1. Let \(M\) be an \(n\)-dim compact complex Kähler manifold, \(D\) a smooth hypersurface such that \([D]\) is positive and \(K + [D]\) is negative. Then the affine algebraic manifold \(X = M - D\) admits a complete Kähler metric of positive Ricci curvature satisfying for any given base point \(x_ 0 \in X\) (i) \(| \text{Riemannian sectional curvature}| \leq {c\over d(x_ 0,x)^ 2}\); \(\int_ x \text{Ric}^ n < \infty\) (ii) \(c_ 1\gamma^{2n} \leq \text{Vol}(B(x_ 0,\gamma)) \leq c_ 2\gamma^{2n}\), where \(c > 0\) depends on the base point \(x_ 0\); \(c_ 1,c_ 2 > 0\) are independent of \(x_ 0\); \(B(x_ 0,\gamma)\) refers to a geodesic ball of radius \(\gamma\) about \(x_ 0\). We remark that by standard comparison of volumes and by the isoperimetric inequality of \textit{C. B. Croke} [Ann. IV. Ser. Ec. Norm. Super., IV. Ser. 13, 419-435 (1980; Zbl 0465.53032)], the constants \(c_ 1\), \(c_ 2\) can be chosen to be independent of the base point.
