In earlier papers [Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 281, No. 1, 16-19 (1985; Zbl 0595.39003) and Rep. Math. Phys. 24, No. 1, 21-47 (1986; Zbl 0652.35098)] the first named author has developed a method for integrating semi- infinite systems of nonlinear difference-differential equations which is based on the inverse spectral theory for Jacobi matrices. This technique is adapted in this paper to apply to non-Abelian systems where the unknowns are operator-valued functions. This is accomplished by using direct and inverse methods for difference expressions with operator coefficients and operator Jacobi matrices.
