Functional moduli of diffeomorphisms of the circle (Q1819804)

The smooth classification of \(C^ k\)-diffeomorphisms of the circle with finite number of hyperbolic fixed points is obtained \((2\leq k\leq \infty)\). It is shown that except for obvious smooth invariants (multipliers of fixed points) there exist functional ones. They have the sense of cocycles gluing a given diffeomorphism from linear maps of the line. This result implies in particular the existence of a \(C^ k\)- diffeomorphism of the circle which is not smoothly conjugate to any \(C^{k+2}\)-diffeomorphism \((2\leq k<\infty)\).
