Let K be a convex body in \({\mathbb{R}}^ d\) (d\(\geq 2)\) and conv\(\{\) p,q\(\}^ a \)chord of K with maximal length in direction u. The body K is said to be an inclined double cone with respect to u if each 2- dimensional half-plane with boundary line through p and q cuts out of K a (possibly degenerate) triangle. In an elementary and short way the equivalence of the following statements is shown: (1) K is a d-simplex. (2) For each direction, K is an inclined double cone. (3) For every \(t\in {\mathbb{R}}^ d\) with non-empty \(K\cap (K+t)\), this intersection is either a point or positively homothetic to K. (4) Each cylinder Z with \(K\subset Z\) has the volume V(Z)\(\geq d V(K).\) (5) Each generalized cylinder \(\bar Z\) (i.e. a compact set whose non- empty intersections with parallel lines are segments of equal lengths) with \(\bar Z\subset K\) satisfies \(V(K)\geq (1+1/(d-1))^{d-1}\cdot V(\bar Z).\) (6) The projection body \(\Pi\) K and the difference body DK are polars with respect to \(\{x\in {\mathbb{R}}^ d|\) \(\| x\| =\sqrt{d V(K)}\}.\) (7) Every Steiner symmetral has exactly two extreme points outside the corresponding symmetrization space. Of course, single equivalences can be found separately in the literature. A comparison of the proof methods seems to be interesting.
