Strong hypergroups of order three (Q1850081)

It is easy to see that all hypergroups with two elements are commutative, hermitian, and self-dual, and that the set of all of them is parametrized by an interval. In this paper hypergroups with three elements are studied. They are commutative, and the set of these hypergroups decomposes in two classes. The first one consists of the non-hermitian ones, which are automatically self-dual, and is parametrized again by an interval. The second one consists of a 3-parameter family of hermitian hypergroups where these hypergroups are not necessarily strong. Altogether, there is no clear picture what happens for finite hypergroups with more elements.
