\textit{R. Wiegand} [J. Algebra 240, No. 1, 83--97 (2001; Zbl 0986.13010)] assigned a monoid \(\Lambda (M)\) to finitely generated modules \(M\) over commutative local Noetherian rings \((R,m)\), which measures how badly the Krull-Schmidt theorem fails for \(M\). \(\Lambda (M) = \ker (A) \cap \mathbb{N}^n\) for some (suitable) positive integer \(n\) and integer matrix \(A\). Monoids isomorphic to some of the form \(\ker (A) \cap \mathbb{N}^n\) are called positively normal and, given a positively normal monoid \(\Gamma\), there exists a local ring order \(R\) and a finitely generated torsion free \(R\) module \(M\) such that \(\Gamma \cong \Lambda (M)\). The paper under review is devoted to prove that, fixed a local ring order \(R\), there exists a positively normal monoid \(\Gamma\) such that for any finitely generated \(R\)-module, \(\Lambda(M)\) is not isomorphic to \(\Gamma\).
