The paper establishes the existence of a compact global attractor for the semilinear wave equation with boundary damping, namely \[ \begin{aligned} \ddot u-\Delta u+f(u)=0\quad &\text{on }\mathbb R_+\times\Omega,\\ \dot u+\gamma\cdot\nabla u=0\quad &\text{on }\mathbb R_+\times\partial \Omega,\end{aligned} \] where \(\Omega\subset \mathbb R^n\) is a bounded domain whose boundary \(\partial\Omega\) is assumed to be \(C^2\) and \(f:\mathbb R\to\mathbb R\) is \(C^1\) and satisfies some sign and growth conditions. Also, some connections with the problem of stabilizability arising in control theory are pointed out.
