The author introduces two notions in the \(C^*\)-algebra context: one is a notion of topological free entropy and the other is a notion of free capacity. Some basic properties of these two quantities and their connections with potential theory are discussed. In particular, the author proves that the free capacity majorizes the topological free entropy. This leads to a natural question about their equality. The equality of the two quantities is shown in two typical examples: the free semicircular \(n\)-tuple and the universal \(n\)-tuple of self-adjoint contraction.
