    Consider the inverse nonlinear Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem of finding the function \( k = k(\xi) \) such that \[ u \equiv u(x,k) ,\;Au \equiv - (k((u^\prime)^2) u^\prime )^\prime + q(x) u ,\;x \in\;(0,1) ; \] \[ (k((u^\prime(x))^2 u^\prime(x) ))_{x=0} = \varphi_0 ;\;u(x,k)_{x=1} = \beta ; \] \[ Au = f(x) ,\;0 < x < 1 ,\;u(0) = 0 ,\;(k( (u^\prime(x))^2) u^\prime(x) ) ) )_{x=1} = \varphi_1 ; \] where \( \varphi_0 , \beta \) are measured data . The nonlinear equation can be rewritten as: \[ 2 (u^\prime(x))^2 u^{\prime\prime}(x) k^\prime( (u^\prime(x))^2) + u^{\prime\prime}(x) (k( (u^\prime(x))^2) = q(x) u(x) - f(x) ,\;0 < x < 1 ; \] with the condition: \[ u^\prime(x) \neq 0 ,\;u^{\prime\prime}(x) \neq 0 ,\;\forall\;x \in [0,1] . \] With an approximate solution \(u = u(x) \) as a second order polynomial \( u(x) = A x^2 + B x ,\;x \in [0,1] ; \) among other results, the author gets the approximate analytical solution \(k(\xi)\): \[ k((u^\prime(x))^2) = {\frac 1 {2(\beta-B)x + B}} \left[ \varphi_0 - \int_0^x (f(y) - q(y)((\beta-B)y^2 + By)) dy \right] ,\;x \in [0,1]; \] \[ B = \left[ \varphi_1 - \varphi_0 + \int_0^1 (f(x) - \beta x^2q(x))dx\right] \left[ \int_0^1 x(1-x)q(x) dx \right]^{-1} . \] The author gives also four analytical examples .
