A semi-Riemannian manifold \((M,g)\) is said to be pseudosymmetric if at every point of \(M\) the tensors \(R \cdot R\) and \(Q(g,R)\) are linearly dependent, where \(R\) is the Riemann-Christoffel curvature tensor and the tensors \(R \cdot R\) and \(Q(g,R)\) are defined in the paper. In the same manner a Ricci-pseudosymmetric manifold is defined (the tensors \(R \cdot S\) and \(Q(g,S)\) are linearly dependent, \(S\) being the Ricci tensor). In the reviewed paper the authors investigate the conditions of pseudosymmetry and Ricci-pseudosymmetry realized on hypersurfaces of semi-Riemannian spaces of constant curvature. They derive an extrinsic characterization of Ricci-pseudosymmetric and of pseudosymmetric hypersurfaces in terms of the shape operator. As an application, in the Riemannian case the authors prove that a hypersurface in a space of constant curvature having type number 2 is always pseudosymmetric. This result gives an extension of a theorem by \textit{K. Nomizu} [Tôhoku Math. J., II. Ser. 20, 46-59 (1968; Zbl 0174.533)] on semisymmetric hypersurfaces of Euclidean spaces.
