On convergence in the \(L_ 2\) norm of difference schemes for systems of parabolic partial differential equations (Q1897873)

For the numerical solution of an initial-boundary value problem of a degenerate system of nonlinear parabolic equations we propose an implicit finite difference scheme. Its nonlinear stability and convergence in the \(L_2\) norm and an error estimate in the maximum norm are proved. It is used to show that the difference solution belongs to a neighborhood of the exact solution. Iterative processes are investigated, and our attention is focused on predictor-corrector type methods.
