The purpose of this article is to state and prove a ``splitting lemma'' for equivariant dynamics. This allows to separate the equivariant dynamics on a \(G\)-manifold \(M\) into the semidirect product of a dynamics in the \(G\)-orbit space \(M/G\) and a dynamics on \(G\). The obtained results are based on the L. Michel theorem [\textit{L. Michel}, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Ser. A 272, 433-436 (1971; Zbl 0205.53801)] about the geometry of symmetry breaking. Several results of equivariant bifurcation theory can be considered as corollaries of this theorem. For the more detailed version see [the author, Splitting equivariant dynamics, preprint CPT A332.1094 (1994)]; it will be published in a future paper (also for noncompact Lie groups).
