An inclusion theorem for iterative Newton-like methods is given and is used to formulate verifiable iterative algorithms for linear and nonlinear systems of equations. Numerical experiments are reported which show that the present method is comparable to the interval arithmetic algorithms of \textit{G. Alefeld} [Numer. Math. 48, 391-416 (1986; Zbl 0597.65050)] and \textit{S. M. Rump} [Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. 235, 31-69 (1986; Zbl 0609.65033)].
