    The paper studies the linearized Boltzmann equation for the density of the neutrons in a convex compact domain \(D_0\) whose diameter is \(d\). Let \(l\) be the length of the free run of the neutron, \(h= l/d\), \(D= D_0 d^{- 1}\), \(\tau= t/h\), \(u= h^2 c/l\), \(\theta= x/h\), (the fast variables), \(N(u, \Omega, \theta, x, \tau, h)\) the density of the neutrons, \(2\pi\)-periodic with respect to \(\theta\), \(|\Omega|= 1\), \(\Omega\in S^2\), \(u\in [a, b]\), \(0< a< b< \infty\). In a fast oscillation medium \(2\pi\)-periodic with respect to \(\theta\) the density of the neutrons satisfies the problem \[ h\partial_\tau N+ h(\Omega, \nabla_x) N+ u(\Omega, \nabla_\theta) N+ qN- uFN= 0,\tag{1} \] \(x\in D\subset \mathbb{R}^3\), \(\partial D\in C^\infty\), diameter \(D= 1\), \(\tau\in [0, T/h]\), \(N|_{x\in \partial D}= 0\), \((\Omega, \nu)< 0\), \(\nu\) being the outer normal to \(\partial D\), \(N|_{\tau= 0}= \varphi\), \(\partial^k_x \varphi\in C(\omega_1\times D)\), \(\omega_1 \underset{\text{def}} = [a,b]\times S^2\times [0, 2\pi]^3\), \(\partial^k_x \varphi|_{\partial D}= 0\), \(|k|< \infty\), \(\varphi\geq 0\). In (1) \(F\) is the scattering of the neutrons \[ FN \underset{\text{def}} = u^{- 1} \int^b_a \int_{S^2} c(u', \theta, x,h) q(u', \theta, x, h) f(u', \Omega', u, \Omega, \theta, x, \tau, h) N(u', \Omega', u, \Omega, \theta, x, \tau, h) du' d\Omega'. \] Under suitable assumptions on the coefficients \(q\), \(c\), \(f\) a method for the construction of the asymptotic solution of (1) is given. Moreover, estimates for this solution and for the accuracy of the asymptotic expansion are obtained.
