Let \(\mathcal M\) be a semifinite von Neumann algebra with a faithful normal semifinite trace \(\tau\), let \(G\) be a compact connected Abelian group and let \(\{\alpha_t\}_{t\in G}\) be an ultraweakly continuous representation of \(G\) on \(\mathcal M\) by \(\tau\)-preserving \(*\)-automorphisms of \(\mathcal M\). An element \(A\in {\mathcal M}\) is an eigenoperator for the character \(\gamma\) from the dual group \(\widehat G\) if and oly if \(\alpha_t(A)= \gamma(t)A\) for all \(t\in G\). If \(\geq\) is some linear order on \(\widehat G\), then the set of all analytical elements \(A(\alpha)\) is defined to be the closure in the norm topology of all finite linear combinations \(\sum A_\gamma\) of eigenoperators \(A_\gamma\) for \(\gamma> 0\). For an arbitrary separable symmetric function space \(E(0, \tau(\text{\textbf{1}}))\) let \(E({\mathcal M}, \tau)\) be its non-commutative counterpart [see the first author and \textit{V. I. Chilin}, Sov. Math. Dokl. 42, No. 1, 97-101 (1991; Zbl 0751.46039)]. The main result of the article under review shows that if \(A\in A(\alpha)\) is such that \(\text{Re } A\in E({\mathcal M}, \tau)\) and if \(E(0, \tau(\text{\textbf{1}}))\) has nontrivial Boyd indices, then also \(\text{Im } A\in E({\mathcal M}, \tau)\) and \(|\text{Re } A|_{E({\mathcal M}, \tau)}\leq c|\text{Im } A|_{E({\mathcal M}, \tau)}\), where constant \(c\) depends only on \(E(0, \tau(\text{\textbf{1}}))\). The relevant results for non-commutative \(L_p\)-spaces associated with von Neumann algebras are to be found in [\textit{L. Zsidó}, Adv. Math. 36, 213-276 (1980; Zbl 0444.47033)] and [\textit{E. Berkson}, \textit{T. A. Gillespie} and \textit{P. S. Muhly}, Integral Equations Oper. Theory 10, 164-186 (1987; Zbl 0618.46052)].
