In an earlier paper, the author proposed a conjecture that when a planar cubic polynomial differential system has nine finite critical points among which there are three saddles and six anti-saddles, then there must be at least one node in the latter. Let \(\Delta\) be the triangle with vertices at the three saddles. Then, in another paper with collaboration of W. Ye, he proved that in the above condition the configuration of the nine critical points belongs to one of the following types: 1. five anti-saddles with index 1 are located in the exterior of \(\Delta\) and one anti-saddle with index 1 is located in the interior of \(\Delta\); 2. six anti-saddles with index 1 are located in the exterior of \(\Delta\); 3. four anti-saddles with index 1 are located in the exterior of \(\Delta\) and two anti-saddles with index 1 are located in the interior of \(\Delta\). The purpose of this paper is to prove the above-mentioned conjecture when the configuration is of first type and the outmost pentagon determined by the anti-saddles is convex. Moreover, the author points out briefly that this result can be generalized to the \(n\)-polynomial system.
