The boundary value problem in a semi-infinite interval for the differential equation \[ y''+ (k^2+ u(x)) y= 0,\quad x\in (0,\infty)\tag{1} \] is solved by an amplitude-phase method, where \(k\) is a constant and \(u\) is a piecewise-continuous function. Some improper integrals containing solutions of (1) and their derivatives are computed without the evaluation of these solutions.
