This is a report on two articles in print by the first author. It deals with a set \(S\) of abstract vector variables with a \(q\)-deformed anti-commutator \(\{x,y\}= xy+qyx\) which should be a scalar. \(S\) may be reduced to a usual algebra of vector variables. This is compared with the calculus in a quantum plane, where the reduction is not always possible.
