The paper under review is an extensive survey on the applications of the method of orthogonal completeness to the theory of rings. The authors show the development of this technique. In addition they consider in fact all of its major applications to ring theory. Most of the results are cited with their proofs. The list of references consists of 59 titles. The survey is of interest to the specialists in the structure theory of rings.
