The paper is a propaganda for some well-known results about the algebraic character of compact Hausdorff spaces. Some references are missing: \textit{E. G. Manes}, Algebraic theories, Graduate Texts in Mathematics 26 (1976; Zbl 0353.18007) (a basic text about infinitary universal algebra), \textit{E. G. Manes}, ``Equational aspects of ultrafilter convergence'' [Algebra Univers. 11, 163-172 (1980; Zbl 0439.54004)] (giving an equational description of compact Hausdorff spaces and its generalization to topological spaces), \textit{H. Herrlich} and \textit{G. E. Strecker} [General Topol. Appl. 1, 283-287 (1971; Zbl 0231.18007)] (showing that compact Hausdorff spaces have no proper subvariety).
