The authors consider affine systems in \(\mathbb{R}^n\). They base on a system \(s= (R, B, L, K)\), where \(R\in \text{GL}_n(\mathbb{R})\), \(B\) and \(L\) are finite subsets of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) containing the origin, and finally, \(K\) is a lattice in \(\mathbb{R}^n\). The affine system is primarily given by the maps \(\sigma_b(x)= R^{- 1} x+ b\) for \(b\in B\) with some fractal \(\overline X\subset \mathbb{R}\) as its limit set, and the measure in mind is \(\mu= |B|^{- 1} \sum_{b\in B} \mu\circ \sigma^{- 1}_b\). The remaining components of the system are needed to define systems \(s\) to be selfadjoint and to be of Hadamard type. For example, \(s\) is Hadamard provided that the matrix \(U\), consisting of the elements \(e^{2\pi ib\cdot l}\) for \(b\in B\), \(l\in L\) and \(b\cdot l\) the usual inner product, satisfies \(U^* U= NI_N\). One of the results gives sufficient conditions for the system \(s\) to be of Hadamard type. A crucial role for the main result of this paper plays the spectrum \(\Lambda= L+ R^* K^0\) where \(K^0\) denotes the dual lattice to \(K\). It shows under very extensive conditions that the set of exponentials \(\{e_\lambda\mid \lambda \in \Lambda\}\) is orthogonal in \(L^2(\overline X, \mu)\). Moreover, \(s\) carries a dual pair of Cuntz representations. Because some extra conditions are necessary for maximal orthogonality, the authors reject the orginal version for harmonic analysis on \(L^2(\overline X, \mu)\) and prefer the dual pair representation as the natural substitute.
