In their editorial preface the editors distinguish three major trends in fuzzy topology: 1) the lattice-theoretical approach, 2) the category theoretic approach, 3) the model-theoretical understanding of fuzzy topology. They supply this by numerous examples from their impressive list of references (77 items). ``The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight these trends \dots'' ``In order to orient the reader, we briefly classify the papers in this issue relative to the above mentioned three trends \dots\ . First, the paper of \textit{D. Adnadjević} and \textit{A. P. Šostak} as well as that of \textit{T. Kubiak} represent the lattice-theoretic trend. Second, the papers of \textit{N. Ajmal} and \textit{R. D. Sarma}, \textit{S. E. Rodabaugh}, \textit{Zhou Jie} represent both the lattice-theoretic and category-theoretic trends. Third, the papers of \textit{W. Gähler}, \textit{U. Höhle} and \textit{A. Šostak} [A general theory of fuzzy topological spaces, pp. 131-149], \textit{E. E. Kerre} and \textit{N. N. Morsi}, \textit{M. A. Amer} and \textit{N. N. Morsi} are related in various ways to the category-theoretic and/or model-theoretic trends [the above mentioned papers are reviewed below, with one exception].
