The author considers the Peierls equation [\textit{B. Davison} and \textit{J. B. Sykes}, Neutron transport theory. Oxford: Clarendon Press (1957; Zbl 0077.22505)]. The solutions to an initial value problem and to two boundary value problems related to this equation are analyzed, and a result concerning an inverse problem related to one of the boundary value problems is presented.
