Poncelet's closure theorem (Traité de proprietés projective de figures, 1865) is a classical result stating that, if there is a polygon with \(n\) sides (\(n\)-gon) inscribed in a smooth conic \(D\) and circumscribed around another smooth conic \(C\), then there are infinitely many such polygons. After Poncelet's proof (1822), other proofs with different approaches have been proposed (see, [\textit{P. Griffiths} and \textit{J. Harris}, Enseign. Math., II. Sér. 24, 31--40 (1978; Zbl 0384.14009)], for Jacobi's proof, and \textit{W. Barth} and \textit{T. Bauer} [Expo. Math. 14, No. 2, 125--144 (1996; Zbl 0864.51018)], for Weyr's proof). The paper revisits Poncelet's theorem from a new point of view, which involves Schwarzenberger bundles [\textit{R. L. E. Schwarzenberger}, Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 11, 601--622 (1961; Zbl 0212.26003); ibid. 11, 623--640 (1961; Zbl 0212.26004)] and the link between their non-zero sections and \(n\)-gons. The new proof requires a preliminary proof of the Darboux theorem [\textit{G. Darboux}, Principes de géométrie analytique. Paris: Gauthier-Villars, VI u. 520 S. \(8^{\circ}\) (1917; JFM 46.0877.14)], with a study of Poncelet curves.
