The main part of the paper under review essentially is expository, as the authors say in the introduction; however they define some new concepts, \(X\)-rank and \(X\)-border rank. These concepts can be used to uniformly treat questions about tensors, symmetric tensors and partially symmetric tensors. They also have a positive answer to a partially symmetric version of Comon's conjecture in \(C^2\otimes C^b\otimes C^b\). The authors sharp some upper bounds of the rank of tensors in \(C^b\otimes C^b\otimes C^b\) as well. (cf. also ([\textit{A. Bernardi} et al., J. Symb.
