On the ratio of different norms of caloric functions and related eigenfunctions of an integral operator (Q1933982)

From authors' abstract: We investigate the ratio of \(L ^{1}\) and \(L ^{2}\) norms of the Cauchy problem solutions of heat equations with compact support initial data. The related asymptotic behavior of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of certain integral operators is obtained. For the asymptotic behavior of the eigenvalues, a similar result for a corresponding integral operator was obtained by \textit{H. Widom} [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 17, 215--229 (1964; Zbl 0183.11701)] and also a similar result was obtained by \textit{J. Meixner} and \textit{F. W. Schäfke} [Mathieusche Funktionen und Sphäroid-Funktionen mit Anwendungen auf physikalische und technische Probleme. Berlin-Göttingen-Heidelberg: Springer-Verlag (1954; Zbl 0058.29503)]. However, the integral operator discussed in this paper is not included in [Zbl 0183.11701] and we also need to deduce the asymptotic behavior of eigenfunctions.
