Summary: By adopting some new ideas, we obtain estimates of an absolute convergence for functions of bounded variation in two variables. Our results generalize related results of \textit{N. Humphreys} and \textit{R. Bojanic} [J. Approximation Theory 101, No. 2, 212--220 (1999; Zbl 0952.42003)] and \textit{K. Wang} and \textit{D. Yu} [J. Approximation Theory 123, No. 2, 300--304 (2003; Zbl 1040.42004)] from one dimension to two dimensions and can be applied to several summability methods.
