In 1979, Graeme Segal proved that the space of holomorphic maps from a Riemann surface to a complex projective space is homology equivalent to the corresponding space of continuous maps through a range of dimensions increasing with degree. In this paper, the author proves that the inclusion of the space of based degree-\(k\) \(J\)-holomorphic maps from \(\mathbb P^1\) to \(\mathbb P^2\) is a homology surjection for dimensions \(j\leq 3k-3\). The author uses the same technique as \textit{D. McDuff} and \textit{D. Salamon} [\(J\)-holomorphic curves and quantum cohomology. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (1994; Zbl 0809.53002)] and \textit{J.-C. Sikorav} [Fields Inst. Commun. 35, 175--199 (2003; Zbl 1109.32301)] to construct a gluing map analytically. He also compares this gluing map to a combinatorial gluing map studied by \textit{F. R. Cohen} et al. [Acta Math. 166, No. 3--4, 163--221 (1991; Zbl 0741.55005)].
