A collocation boundary element method and a weighted boundary elementary method are used to solve a one-dimensional inverse heat conduction problem by considering Green's function and boundary integral equation for the one-dimensional heat equation. Truncated single value decomposition (SVD) technique and a couple of Tikhonov's regularization techniques are used to stabilize the ill-conditioned systems obtained under the said boundary element methods. According to the study of this paper, the truncated SVD technique involves more computations than Tikhonov's regularization techniques, and the weighted boundary element method is more stable than the collocation boundary element method.
