The purpose is to study stability properties of continuous subnorms on a subset \({\mathcal G}\) of a finite-dimensional algebra. If \(f\) is a subnorm on~\({\mathcal G}\) and \(g\) is a continuous submodulus on~\({\mathcal G}\), then the main result states that \(g\) is unique, \(f(a^m)^{1/m}\to g(a)\) as \(m\to \infty\), and \(f\) is stable if and only if it majorizes~\(g\). A part of the paper is devoted to norms on algebras, where the above findings hold almost verbatim. The authors illustrate their results by discussing certain subnorms on matrix algebras, as well as on the complex numbers, the quaternions, and the octaves, where these number systems are viewed as algebras over the reals.
