Consider a smooth manifold \(M\) and \(g\) a smooth section of the bundle of symmetric two tensors on \(M\). A point \(p\in M\) such that \(g_p\) is degenerate is called a metric singularity. In the first part of this paper, an interesting existence and uniqueness theorem for geodesics through a metric singular point is proven (Theorem 2.6). The main purpose of the second part consists in proving an existence and uniqueness theorem for orbits through a singular point of a smooth vector field (Theorem 3.2).
