The classical Grünbaum inequality proved by himself [\textit{B. Grünbaum}, Pac. J. Math. 10, 1257--1261 (1960; Zbl 0101.14603)] states that if \(K\) is a convex body in the \(n\)-dimensional Euclidean space \(\mathbb{R}^n\) with centroid at the origin then \[ \frac{V(K^{-})}{V(K)}\geq \left(\frac{n}{n+1}\right)^n,\tag{1} \] where \(V(K)\) is the \(n\)-dimensional volume of \(K\), \(K^{-}\) denotes the intersection of \(K\) with a halfspace bounded by \(H\) and \(H\) is a hyperplane passing through the centroid of \(K\). Equality holds in (1), for a fixed unit vector \(u\in S^{n-1}\), if and only if \(K\) is a cone in the direction \(u\). In recent years, the Grünbaum inequality was extended to different cases, like sections and projections of compact convex sets, and generalized to the analytic setting of log-concave functions and \(p\)-concave functions for \(p>0\). In the present paper, the authors provide a new lower bound for the ratio \(\frac{V(K^{-})}{V(K)}\). Let \(K\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) be a compact set with non-empty interior and with centroid at the origin. Let \(H\) be a hyperplane such that the function \( f(x)=\mathrm{vol}_{n-1}(K\cap (x+H))\) is \(p\)-concave, for some \(p\geq0\). If \(p>0\), then \[ \frac{V(K^{-})}{V(K)}\geq \left(\frac{p+1}{2p+1}\right)^{\frac{p+1}{p}},\tag{2} \] and if \(p=0\) then \[ \frac{V(K^{-})}{V(K)}\geq e^{-1}. \tag{3} \]
