In this paper, the authors study the GW/PT descendent correspondence. The Gromov-Witten theory for stable maps and the Pandharipande-Thomas theory for stable pairs are formulated in terms of the formal variables \(u\) and \(q\) respectively. Under the change of variables \(-q = e^{iu}\), an explicit formula for the GW/PT descendent correspondence in the stationary case (i.e, cohomology degrees at least \(2\)) for nonsingular connected projective threefolds is proposed. The formula, written via vertex operators, is verified for all nonsingular projective toric threefolds. Moreover, a \(2\)-leg equivariant version of the GW/PT descendent correspondence is proved for the open toric threefold \(U\) which is obtained from \(\mathbb P^1 \times \mathbb P^1 \times \mathbb P^1\) by removing the three coordinator lines passing the point \(\infty \times \infty \times \infty\). Section~2 is devoted to the dressing operator. Section~3 establishes the \(1\)-leg equivariant version of the GW/PT descendent correspondence for \(U\). The main idea is to use explicit analyses of the Gromov-Witten and stable pairs descendent theory. In Section~4, the authors prove the GW/PT descendent correspondence for all nonsingular projective toric threefolds and the \(2\)-leg equivariant version for \(U\). Some examples for \(\mathbb P^3\) are also presented. Section~5 contains further remarks about DT/GW/PT theories. It includes results and conjectures concerning parallel questions about the descendent DT theory of ideal sheaves.
