Let \(A\) be a finite-dimensional algebra over a field, and denote by \(\tau_A\) and \(\tau_A^{-1}\) the Auslander-Reiten translations \(D\,\)Tr and Tr\(\,D\), respectively. Moreover, let \(e\) and \(f\) be the idempotents of \(A\). In this paper, the author introduces the notion of a fabric idempotent as an analogue of the localisable objects studied by \textit{X.-W. Chen} and \textit{H. Krause} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 215, No. 12, 2873--2883 (2011; Zbl 1267.18010)]. Namely, an idempotent \(f\) is called a fabric idempotent of \(A\) with respect to \(e\) if: (1) The idempotent \(f\) satisfies \(\mathrm{proj.dim}_A(A/\langle f\rangle) \leq 1\). (2) \(\tau_A(P)\) is injective \(A/\langle e\rangle\)-module for every projective \(A/\langle f\rangle\)-module \(P\). (3) \(\tau_A^{-1}(I)\) is projective \(A/\langle f\rangle\)-module for every injective \(A/\langle e\rangle\)-module \(I\). Using this notion, the author gives a precise description of which projective modules generate each term in the projective resolution of a given Gorenstein injective module. Moreover, using fabric idempotents he extends the classification of singularity categories of Nakayama algebras given by \textit{X.-W. Chen} and \textit{Y. Ye} [Algebr. Represent. Theory 17, No. 3, 713--733 (2014; Zbl 1330.16009)] to higher Nakayama algebras.
