It is known from \textit{V. Colin} et al. [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 109, 245--293 (2009; Zbl 1268.57013)] that (closed, orientable) hyperbolic \(3\)-manifolds have finitely many tight contact structures, while Seifert fibered manifolds have infinitely many tight structures as long as either the base space has positive genus or there are more than three singular fibers. This leaves open the case of small Seifert fibered manifolds \(M(e_0;r_1,r_2,r_3)\). (In some sporadic cases of small Seifert fibered manifolds it follows from work of Honda and Giroux that there are infinitely many tight contact structures.) The paper under review classifies tight contact structures on many small Seifert fibered manifolds \(M(-2;r_1,r_2,r_3)\) with Euler number \(e_0=-2\). For \(r_1+r_2+r_3\ge \frac{9}{4}\) or \(r_1+r_2+r_3<2\), and for \(r_1=\frac{1}{2}, r_2=\frac{2}{3}, r_3=\frac{n+5}{n+6}\) or \(r_3=\frac{5n+1}{6n+1}\) (in both cases \(n\ge 1\)), the author obtains a precise formula for the (finite and nonvanishing) number of tight contact structures.
