The Robin function \(R\) of a planar domain with smooth boundary is a generalization of the concept of Green function for the Laplace equation. The difference is that the boundary of the domain is separated into two disjoint parts, \(A\) and \(B\), consisting of finite sets of arcs, and the boundary conditions are: \(R|_A=0\) and \(\partial R/\partial n|_B=0\). Because of conformal invariance, the Robin function can be also defined for non-smooth boundaries. The author gives a new proof of the existence of the Robin function for finitely-connected domains. The proof is based on the fact that the Green function of a domain \(\Omega\) coincides with the Robin function for its subdomain \(\Omega\setminus \bigcup s_j\), obtained from \(\Omega\) by cutting along a finite number of arcs \(s_j\), and makes use of the conformal welding.
