Let \(X\) be a complex projective manifold. A natural question is to describe all smooth complex projective structures on \(X\). This question in full generality is very challenging, so the authors ask only for those complex projective structures that preserve the orientation of the given one. This assumption is done essentially because the intersection numbers are preserved under o-omeomorphisms, \textit{i. e.} homeomorphisms which preserves the orientation, but not necessarily under homeomorphisms. In the introduction the authors provide an overview of the known results and discuss some related question as: is there a Calabi-Yau 3-fold Y which is o-homeomorphic to a smooth cubic 3-fold or to a smooth intersection of two quadric hypersurfaces in \(\mathbb{P}^5\)? In particular they briefly explain the reasons this question cannot be tractable with their techniques, but they focus on the case the dimension of \(X\) is at least 4. The Kodaira dimension is not an invariant for o-omeomorphisms, however the authors show that for varieties of even dimension, a Fano manifold cannot be o-omeomorphic to a manifold with vanishing first Chern class. Note that there are examples of Fano manifolds which are o-diffeomorphic to projective manifolds of general type. Then the authors show, among other things, that a hyperkähler manifold cannot be o-omeomorphic to a Calabi-Yau manifold. At the end, they focus on hyperkähler manifold deformation equivalent to the Hilbert scheme of two-points on a \(K3\) surface, showing that varieties o-homeomorphic to these hyperkähler have some very special properties. The techniques used in this paper are mainly based on computation in cohomology and are very well explained.
