In this technical paper the authors study the Kähler Ricci-flow on non-compact Kähler manifolds and establish existence, uniqueness and regularity results in various situations. More precisely, let \(\overline{M}\) be a compact Kähler manifold with a smooth Kähler metric \(\eta\). Take a smooth divisor \(D\subset\overline{M}\) and put \(M:=\overline{M}\setminus D\). Let \(\omega (t)\) be a \(1\)-parameter family of Kähler metrics on \(M\) subject to the Kähler Ricci-flow initial value problem \[ \begin{cases} \frac{\partial\omega (t)}{\partial t}=-\mathrm{Ric}(\omega (t))\\ \omega (0)=\eta +\mathbf{i}\partial\overline{\partial}\phi_0 \end{cases} \] where \(\phi_0\) is a plurisubharmonic function on \(\overline{M}\) relative to \(\eta\). The authors are interested in, upon making various regularity assumptions on \(\varphi_0\), finding unique smooth solutions which exist for some finite time and in describing complete Kähler metrics \(\omega (t)\) with bounded curvature on \(M\), or more precisely: metrics comparable with a fixed Carlson-Griffiths type metric \(\hat{\omega}\) on \(M\) (see Theorems 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 in the article). To achieve this they study a Monge-Ampère equation associated to the Kähler Ricci-flow initial value problem.
