In this excellent paper, the authors investigate the existence of a positive pseudo compact almost automorphic solution to the following delay differential equation \[ \dot{u}(t)=-\alpha (t)u(t)+\sum_{i=1}^nF_i(t,u(t-\tau_i(t)))+ b(t)H(t), \] where \(\alpha, \, \tau_i, \, b\) are assumed to be continuous and compact almost automotphic functions, \(H\) is Lipschitz continuous, while the functions \(F_i(\cdot, u(\cdot))\) (\(u\ge 0)\) are uniformly pseudo compact almost automorphic. Moreover, \(\alpha, \, \tau_i, \, H\), and \(F_i(\cdot, u(\cdot))\) are nonnegative. The above equation is a general model for population dynamics (with harvesting or with immigration if \(b\) is negative or positive, respectively), including some particular models that have been previously studied (such as, Nicholson's Blowflies or Lasota-Wazeska model). The main result of the paper states the existence and uniqueness of a pseudo compact almost automorphic solution to the above equation, under suitable assumptions. Exponential convergence of this solution is also established by using the Halanay Inequality. The theoretical results are illustrated with some examples and applications.
