The paper studies area-preserving maps on K3 surfaces, using tropical geometric techniques and Berkovich analytic spaces. These techniques are then used in the paper for applications in the context of dynamical systems. A tropical K3 surface can be realised as the boundary of a convex polytope, homeomorphic to the \(2\)-sphere, endowed with the additional data given by a piecewise affine structure, that is also preserved by tropical area-preserving automorphisms. Following [\textit{S. Payne}, Math. Res. Lett. 16, No. 2--3, 543--556 (2009; Zbl 1193.14077)] one can consider an appropriate limit of all tropicalizations, which recovers the Berkovich analytification. The author uses the compatibility of Berkovich geometry with the tropical geometric set up to study the Berkovich analytification of automorphisms. It is proven that one can construct currents on the Berkovich analytification, which are scaled by an invariant measure. The constructions in the article provide various future directions for further investigation, using the interaction between Berkovich geometry, tropical geometry and dynamical systems. A number of open questions are stated.
