The authors solve fractional-order integro-differential equations of Fredholm type in the following form: \[ \sum_{i=0}^n a_iD^{(i)}y(t)=f(t)+\int_0^tk(t,s)D^\alpha y(s)ds,\qquad m-1<\alpha\leq m,\quad m\in N, t\in[0,1] \] subject to the initial values \[ y^{(i)}(0)=d_i,\quad i=0,1,\dots,n-1 \] by analyzing a spectral Chebyshev-Legendre approximation. The used fractional derivative is meant in the Caputo sense. The developed theory is verified by solving given examples the exact solutions of which are known. It is derived that the error of the used approximate solution decays exponentially in the \(L^2\)-norm.
