In this paper, the author constructs a functorial ``Hochschild-Witt complex'' \(WCH_{\bullet}(A)\) for any associative unital algebra over a perfect field \(k\) of characteristic \(p\) that resembles \(TR _\bullet(A; p)\) and carries all the additional structures that \(TR(A; p)\) is known to carry (in particular, a Connes-Tsygan differential \(B\), and the Frobenius and Verschiebung maps \(F\), \(V\)). This construction is purely homological, and at present, there is no easy way to compare it to equivariant stable homotopy theory. Nevertheless, the author proves that in degree 0, the homology group \(WHH_0(A)\) of the complex \(WCH_\bullet(A)\) is indeed Hesselholt's Witt vectors group, and in the Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg situation, this construction recovers the de Rham-Witt complex of Deligne and Illusie. Thus, regardless of any comparison with \(TR_\bullet(A; p)\), this Hochschild-Witt complex \(WCH_\bullet(A)\) and the corresponding periodic cyclic homology theory give a full non-commutative generalization of the crystalline cohomology for affine varieties over a finite field.
