This paper investigates the criterion for uniform K-stability of Fano varieties. It was proved by the author [J. Reine Angew. Math. 751, 309--338 (2019; Zbl 1435.14039)] that to test uniform K-stability of a Fano variety \(X\), one needs to compare \(\beta(F)\) and \(j(F)\) for all prime divisors \(F\) over \(X\). The main result of this paper gives a refinement of this criterion and proves that one only need to compare \(\beta(F)\) and \(A_X(F)\) for all plt-type prime divisors \(F\) over \(X\). As a corollary of this new criterion, if \(\phi:X'\to X\) is a finite surjective morphism such that \(\phi^*(K_X+\Delta)=K_{X'}+\Delta'\) where \((X,\Delta)\) and \(({X'},\Delta')\) are log Fano pairs, assuming that \((X',\Delta')\) is uniformly K-stable (resp. K-semistable), then \((X,\Delta)\) is so. As another corollary, this paper shows the K-semistability of the projective plane by a purely birational geometric method.
