For \(n\in\mathbb{N}\), let \(\mathcal{C}_n\) be the semigroup of all order-preserving and decreasing transformations on \(X_n=\{1,\ldots,n\}\), under its natural order, and let \(N(\mathcal{C}_n)\) be the set of all nilpotent elements of \(\mathcal{C}_n\) and let Fix\((\alpha)=\{x\in X_n:xa=x\}\) for any transformation \(\alpha\). An element \(a\) of a finite semigroup is called \(m\)-potent (\(m\)-nilpotent) element if \(a^{m+1}=a^m\) \((a^m=0)\) and \(a,a^2,\ldots, a^m\) are distinct. The aim of this paper is to find a formulae for the number of \(m\)-nilpotent elements, In Section 2, the authors obtain a formulae for the number of \(m\)-nilpotent elements in \(N(\mathcal{C}_n)\) for \(2\leq m \leq n-1\). In Section 3, the authors obtain a formulae for the number of \(m\)-potent elements of \(C_{n,Y} = \{\alpha\in \mathcal{C}_n :\) Fix\((\alpha) = Y\}\) where \(Y\) is a subset of \(X_n\).
