The paper is concerned with the computation of the solid hull and the solid core of spaces of weighted entire functions \(H^\infty_v(\mathbb C) = \big\{f \in H(\mathbb C) : \sup_{z \in \mathbb C} |f(z)| v(|z|) < \infty\big\}\), where the weight \(v : [0,\infty) \to [0,\infty)\) is continuous, decreasing, and such that \(r^k v(r) \to 0\) as \(r \to \infty\) for all integers \(k\ge0\). A vector space \(E\) of complex sequences is said to be solid if \((a_k) \in E\) and \(|b_k| \le |a_k|\) for all \(k\) implies \((b_k) \in E\). The solid hull (resp. solid core) of a sequence space is the smallest solid superspace (resp. largest solid subspace). These notions make sense for \(H^\infty_v(\mathbb C)\) by identifying an entire function with the sequence of its Taylor coefficients. In [\textit{J. Bonet} and \textit{J. Taskinen}, Rev. Mat. Iberoam. 34, No. 2, 593--608 (2018; Zbl 1403.46023)] and [\textit{J. Bonet} et al., Rev. Mat. Complut. 31, No. 3, 781--804 (2018; Zbl 1406.46017)] explicit descriptions for the solid hull and solid core of \(H^\infty_v(\mathbb C)\) were obtained under an assumption on the weight \(v\), which was called condition \((b)\). The paper under review investigates the case that the weight \(v\) is of the form \(v(r) = \exp(-\omega_M(r))\), where \(\omega_M(r) = \sup_{k\in \mathbb N} \log (r^k/M_k)\) is the function typically associated with a weight sequence \(M=(M_k)\) in the theory of ultradifferentiable functions and ultradistributions. Particular emphasis is put on the question what effect regularity conditions for the sequence \(M=(M_k)\), which appear naturally in the latter theory, have on the validity of condition \((b)\). It turns out that, generally, condition \((b)\) might fail even for \(M\) which are ``very regular''. Some special examples, such as Gevery and \(q\)-Gevrey sequences, are analyzed in detail. In the last section the problem is briefly discussed for weighted holomorphic functions on the unit disk; see [loc. cit.] and [\textit{J. Bonet} and \textit{J. Taskinen}, Ann. Acad. Sci. Fenn., Math. 43, No. 1, 521--530 (2018; Zbl 1398.46021)].
