Eigenvalue problems with unbalanced growth: nonlinear patterns and standing wave solutions (Q2007487)

This paper deals with the qualitative analysis of solutions for a class of nonlinear eigenvalue problems with nonstandard growth. A feature of this paper is the presence of a differential operator with different behavior near the origin and at infinity. In such a way, the associated energy is a double-phase functional. The authors distinguish two different situations, in accordance with the growth of the reaction. In both situations existence and non-existence results are established, as well as regularity properties of the solutions. The proofs rely on variational methods combined with topological arguments and energy estimates.
